Software Engineer

Our prestigious international client is looking for software engineers to join their Cape Town office. You should be somebody who enjoys working on systems software, is customer-centric, and feels strongly not only about building good software but about running that software in the real world. Â The ideal candidate will have strong distributed systems and web services design and implementation experience. Successful candidates will: • Have a deep understanding of software development, services development, and quality software engineering. • Be passionate software engineer with a strong sense of ownership. • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills. • Possess strong analytical skills with excellent problem solving abilities. • Have a minimum of 3 years of software development experience. • Have at least a bachelor´s degree in CS or MIS. • Be able to demonstrate current proficiency in Ruby, Perl, Java and/or C/C++. • Be proficient with Linux, in particular on the networking side. • Possess an understanding of TCP/IP networking. • Have experience with large scale data storage and processing. • Have experience with virtualization. • Have experience building scalable, fault tolerant infrastructure software and distributed systems. • Have knowledge of system performance methodologies along with hands on empirical monitoring • Have strong desire to build, sense of ownership, urgency, and drive • Have demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in a highly innovative and fast paced environment • Have excellent written communication and strong verbal skills.
